Bundaberg

Bundaberg is well known for it’s heritage buildings which have been kept in immaculate condition and the blend of new buildings with the old make for interesting sight seeing around the area. Bundaberg Rum Distillery
BUNDY RUM
The area is famously known for it’s Bundaberg Rum Distillery. The well known Rum drink was originated in Bundaberg and has since become extremely popular since 1888. In 1986 the distillery first opened it’s doors to tourism and people flooded to take a trip around the distillery to view the magnificent production that goes into making Bundaberg Rum. Here you can sample the famous rum, smell the aroma’s that originate from the very first stages of making the Rum. And for those who wish to kick back after the tour is over, there is also a bar so you can taste the Rum Liqueurs of many varieties.
BUNDABERG SUGAR
This ever popular place is also home to Bundaberg Sugar. Sugarcane growing became popular in the area as many new mills were opening up which still today provides many jobs for locals of the region.

Botanical Gardens
Spanning over 27 Hectares is the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens, which is set in a breathtaking environment of over 10,000 tree’s and shrubs to admire on your walk around the park lands.
114 species of birds call the lake that is situated in the gardens ‘home’, and there you can enjoy a picnic, take a walk through the nursery or even plan your wedding there with a wedding chapel being located in the gardens amongst gorgeous, well kept plantation.
HINKLER HALL
The major tourist attraction for Bundaberg is the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, named after Bert Hinkler, the solo pilot, which the hall is also themed around his excited adventures. In the Hall is a retail outlet, exhibition gallery and a cafe.

Sugarcane Railway
The Australian Sugarcane Railway gives you and your family a experience not to forget while you take a trip on board a train and travel around the gardens whilst enjoying the company and views on board this coal powered locomotive.
And if railway is your thing, you can pop over to the Railway Museum and take a trip back down memory lane while you browse through old documentation of days gone by, and admire the old uniforms worn by the drivers as well as view locomotive products that are still in their original state.
